Yes. Google says its new Ask Maps feature answers questions using information from over 300 million places and reviews from more than 500 million contributors (Google). Your Business Profile and its reviews are part of what it reads.
Google launched Ask Maps on March 12, 2026 in the U.S. on Android and iOS. In July 2026, Search Engine Land reported that Google’s AI Mode shows Business Profiles as panels inside its answers to local searches, with hours, photos, location and reviews (Search Engine Land).
Why does it matter?
R7 Creative serves local businesses, even in our own back yard. Ashland, Richland and Wayne counties are home to about 294,000 people (Census: Ashland, Richland, Wayne). When someone asks their phone for a plumber near them or a good bakery nearby, the answer always draws on Google’s listings and reviews.
If the hours are wrong, the AI will repeat them. If the services aren’t listed, it has less to talk about.
What does AI read about my business?
Google hasn’t published a definitive list yet. Its ranking help pages already say businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local results (Google). You could assume the same is true for an AI reading your listing too.
- Categories and services. What you do, specifically.
- Service area and hours. Where and when you work.
- Description. Plain words, no keyword lists.
- Photos. Real work, recent.
- Reviews, and your replies. Ask Maps draws on reviews, so recent, detailed ones give it more to work with.
Use the same business name, phone number and hours on your website, so the two sources agree.
Our profile setup starts with the top of that list, plus products: the categories, services, description and photos. The monthly work then keeps it current: posts, photos, review replies and profile content.
What about my website?
Your profile is one source. Your website is another, and the AI tools read it too. That side has its own post: how to get your business mentioned by AI tools. This one stays on the profile. Keep the two in step.
What should I do?
- Check the basics. Hours, phone number, service area and categories. Wrong facts can get repeated.
- Fill in your services one by one, in the words customers use.
- Reply to your reviews, good and bad.
- Add recent photos and posts. Here’s how often to post on your Google profile.
- Answer the questions customers ask. If people keep asking whether you do a certain job, say so in your services and description.
None of this is new work. It’s the same profile your customers already read. The AI is one more reader.
If your profile doesn’t show up in regular Maps results, fix that first with this Google Maps checklist. A profile Maps can’t show gives the AI little to work with.
