Google doesn’t set a number. Its help docs say nothing about how often to post. What matters is that your posts are real, recent and steady, on a rhythm you’ll keep.
At the time of this writing, Google archives posts older than six months unless you set a date range (Google).
So what’s a good rhythm?
A burst of posts in March and nothing until fall confuses your customer. They want to see what is happening now and what has happened in the past.
These posts show up in your feed. They can also bring your business up in AI answers.
You can schedule a post for later, or set it to repeat (Google).
What should I post?
Google offers three kinds: updates, offers and events.
- A finished job. A before-and-after photo.
- A problem you solved. One sentence.
- A new service or team member.
- A seasonal reminder.
- An offer, including its expiration date.
Keep posts short. Two or three sentences is enough. Write in plain language.
Do posts help me show up on Google?
Google hasn’t said so. Its support docs talk about complete and accurate information, verification, photos and reviews (Google).
Post for the person checking out your business. They want to know you’re active now and can help them.
What else?
Posts are one part of a good profile. You also need new photos, replies to reviews and up-to-date information. Our profile management covers all of this.
Posts won’t rescue a profile that’s set wrong or incomplete. If you’re not showing up at all, start with this Google Maps checklist.
Recent photos can be hard for businesses. Here’s how to get your team to take job photos worth posting.
Where to start
- Look at your profile today.
- Check when the last post went up.
- Decide when the next one goes up.
Keep job photos in your phone, so you always have content.

FAQ
Do Google Business Profile posts expire?
Posts older than six months are archived unless you set a date range. Event and offer posts carry their own dates.
Can I schedule Google Business Profile posts?
Yes. Google lets you schedule a post for a later time and set a post to repeat.
Should I post the same job on Facebook and my Google profile?
You can. The same finished job works in both places. On Google, write it for someone deciding whether to call: the town and the work in the first line.
Is there a best day or time to post on my Google profile?
Google doesn’t publish one. Post when you have real work to show, and keep the pace steady.
